Navamsa Calculator (D9)

The Navamsa is the ninth divisional chart, formed by dividing each 30-degree zodiac sign into nine equal parts of 3 degrees 20 minutes each. Every one of these parts, or amsas, is mapped to a full sign, producing a second chart derived entirely from the precise degrees of the birth chart.

Regarded as the most important divisional chart after the D-1, the Navamsa is used primarily to examine marriage and the spouse, and to assess dharma and inner strength. It reveals the underlying substance behind the promises seen in the main chart.

A strong Navamsa indicates that the promises of the birth chart have the durability to actually mature. The clearest sign of strength is a vargottama planet, which holds the same sign in both the D-1 and the D-9; such a planet gains marked stability and tends to deliver its results reliably.

Planets that are dignified in the Navamsa, or that improve from a weak birth-chart placement to a strong D-9 one, can outperform their surface appearance. This is why practitioners always cross-check the D-1 against the D-9 before drawing firm conclusions.

In marriage analysis the Navamsa is read alongside the birth chart because it is traditionally the chart of the spouse and married life. Astrologers study its 7th house, its lord, and natural significators such as Venus and Jupiter to describe the partner's nature and the quality of the union.

The condition of these factors, including any affliction or support they receive, informs judgments about marital harmony and timing. Because the Navamsa refines the D-1, a marriage indication is considered dependable only when both charts agree.
