Sarvatobhadra Chakra

The Sarvatobhadra Chakra (SBC) is a Vedic astrological diagram whose name means "auspicious in all directions," arranged as a 9x9 grid of 81 cells. It maps the 27 Nakshatras together with the Sanskrit vowels and consonants, the weekdays, and the Tithis into a single geometric pattern.

This omnidirectional layout lets an astrologer read many elements of the chart at once, and it is used chiefly for transit analysis and for selecting an auspicious Muhurat.

The chakra is used for timing by tracking how transiting planets aspect the elements placed in its cells. When a planet crosses a Nakshatra, it simultaneously influences the connected vowels, consonants, and opposite Nakshatras, so an event tied to a person or matter is expected when the planet activates their birth star or name-syllable.

Because it links transits to name letters and lunar days as well as stars, the SBC is applied to both personal predictions and mundane matters such as weather, markets, and world events.

Vedha means "piercing" and refers to the aspect or obstruction cast when a transiting planet strikes a point in the chakra. A malefic planet piercing a person's Nakshatra or syllable through Vedha signals affliction and difficulty, while a benefic Vedha is regarded as supportive.

Identifying which planet pierces which element, and whether that planet is benefic or malefic, is the core interpretive step of the Sarvatobhadra system.
