Its four padas, its ten-year Moon dasha, and why the tradition treats it as the most fertile star. # Rohini Nakshatra: All Four Padas, Lord and Meaning Rohini Nakshatra occupies 10°00' to 23°20' Taurus and is ruled by the Moon. Its deity is Prajapati Brahma, the creator, and its symbol is an ox-cart, a vehicle for carrying a harvest. In the sky it is Aldebaran, the red eye of the Bull, one of the brightest stars visible from the northern hemisphere and impossible to mistake once you have found it. This is the star the tradition treats as the most fertile of the twenty-seven, and every part of the description points the same way: growth, beauty, ripening, and things that are wanted. ## The Moon's own favourite There is a story behind Rohini's reputation and it is worth telling because it explains the star's shadow as well as its light. Chandra, the Moon, married all twenty-seven daughters of Daksha, who are the twenty-seven nakshatras. He then spent nearly all his time with Rohini and neglected the rest.
