Ketu asks 17,000 repetitions against a seven year dasha. A lehsunia gemstone, cat's eye in English, belongs to Ketu, and it shares the structural problem hessonite has. Ketu owns no sign, so it owns no houses, so the test that licenses or refuses every other stone in the set has nothing to evaluate. Twelve ascendants, twelve blanks. Not licensed anywhere and not refused anywhere. ## Why the two nodes are different from the other seven The seven grahas from the Sun to Saturn divide the twelve signs between them: five own two each and the luminaries own one each. That is the complete allocation and there is nothing left over. Rahu and Ketu are not planets in the physical sense at all. They are the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic, always exactly 180 degrees apart, which is why Ketu sits precisely six houses from Rahu in every chart ever cast. Points do not own signs, and no amount of tradition retrofits an ownership that the allocation has no room for. So the classical framework has a great deal to say about where the nodes sit and almost nothing derivable to say about strengthening them. ## What Ketu does have A seven year mahadasha, the joint shortest with Mars. A japa count of 17,000. Put those two together and you get the strangest ratio in the whole remedial table. Across the nine grahas, japa per mahadasha year runs from 529 for Mercury to 2,429 for Ketu. That is a factor of 4.59 between the lightest and heaviest, and Ketu sits at the top by a distance: it asks nearly as many repetitions as Rahu's 18,000 while running for less than half as long. Whatever set those counts, it was not proportionality to the dasha lengths. Only Rahu happens to line up, at 18,000 against 18 years. Everything else is scattered, and the scatter matters before anyone tells you the numbers encode a hidden ratio. ## The practical instructions, and why they are borrowed Our table gives cat's eye a Saturday, exactly as it gives hessonite a Saturday, and for the same reason: there is no weekday belonging to a node, so both borrow one and both borrow the same one. Finger, metal and weight range match hessonite's entry field for field. Two rows out of nine agreeing on everything is the pattern you get when a table has been filled outward from its neighbours rather than worked out row by row. Insist on carats rather than ratti if you are buying. A carat is exactly 200 milligrams by international definition; ratti is a traditional seed weight with no single standard, so the two are not interchangeable and the gap is not small. None of which makes the stone useless. Measured across 12,000 real births at a random age between 0 and 75, a node was the running mahadasha lord 22.43% of the time, and three sample windows agreed within 0.7 of a point. That is the scale of the hole. More than one reader in five, asking what to wear during their current period, is asking about a graha the stone framework has no rule for. It is the graha associated with what a person is finished with rather than what they are pursuing. That signification sits oddly with the entire premise of a strengthening remedy. Feeding a graha asks it to do more. Asking Ketu to do more is asking for more detachment, which is a coherent request for a renunciate and a strange one for somebody who came in worried about their career. It is one of the few places where the mismatch between what a stone does and what a buyer wants is visible without any arithmetic at all. ## The one bead that reaches Ketu cleanly Here is a comparison worth making, because it is the clearest case in this wave of one remedial system having a rule where another has none. The rudraksha mukhis are numbered, and for the first nine the number is simply the graha's position in the navagraha sequence: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Mars, 4 Mercury, 5 Jupiter, 6 Venus, 7 Saturn, 8 Rahu, 9 Ketu. There are no exceptions in those nine and no interpretation involved. Ketu is the ninth graha, so it takes the ninth bead. That works because an ordinal does not require ownership. The gemstone rule does, and the nodes have none, so one system reaches Ketu without strain and the other cannot reach it at all. The bead scheme runs out of tidiness later, at exactly the point you would expect. Twelve of the fourteen mukhis carry a graha and there are only nine grahas, so three of them appear twice, and beads 10 and 11 carry no planet at all. That is pigeonhole arithmetic and it holds whichever attribution list a seller works from. ## Where Ketu genuinely is readable Occupancy and timing, same as Rahu. Ketu is always six houses from Rahu, so the axis is one piece of information rather than two. Its placement drives the [Kaal Sarp](https://mahadasha.com/kaal-sarp-dosha) configuration when every other graha falls on one side of the axis. Its transit is slow: the node takes roughly eighteen months to cross a sign, and the true node runs direct on 26.2% of days despite the common claim that the nodes are always retrograde. That claim describes the mean node, which is a smoothed average rather than the actual crossing point. And in dasha terms, Ketu's 7 years plus Rahu's 18 make 25 of the 120 in the Vimshottari cycle, or 20.83%. During those stretches any rule phrased as "run the dasha of the lord of house N" simply has no referent. ## If you want a Ketu remedy that stands on something The [Ketu mantra](https://mahadasha.com/ketu-mantra) asks 17,000 repetitions, which is 157 malas with 44 beads left over, and no ascendant restriction applies because there was never a lordship test to pass. At two and a half seconds a repetition that is about 18 minutes a day to finish inside a forty day mandala. The 9 mukhi rudraksha carries Ketu at position nine, the last bead where the mukhi count and the navagraha order still line up. As with Rahu's bead, the numbering reaches the node cleanly, which the stone framework does not. ## Frequently asked questions about the lehsunia gemstone ### Who should wear a lehsunia gemstone?
