Kulik Kaal Sarp Dosh forms when Rahu occupies the 2nd house and Ketu the 8th, with all seven classical grahas contained in the half between them. It accounts for 8.40% of formed cases, or 0.31% of all charts, since the configuration itself appears in only 3.69% of charts to begin with. About one chart in three hundred and twenty. Worth keeping in view while reading anything written about it, because this is the type that attracts the most alarming copy on the internet, and the reason is structural rather than astrological. ## Why Kulik Kaal Sarp Dosh attracts the most fear copy In the classical reckoning the 2nd and the 8th are the two maraka houses, the ones associated with the end of a life span. That association is old, it is genuine, and it is also narrow: it belongs to a specific technique for timing, applied through the lords of those houses during particular dasha periods, not to anything sitting in the houses. All seven grahas contained on one side of that axis as well is not, and the difference between the two is the whole content of the Kaal Sarp claim. What the containment adds is concentration. Every planet in the chart is on one side, which means every planet is aspected, hemmed and framed by the nodal axis, and no graha is standing outside the arrangement able to comment on it. That is a real structural statement and it is the reason the configuration was named. What it does not add is a separate set of predictions. There is no classical text listing outcomes for Kulik specifically. The house readings do the work, the containment tightens them, and everything beyond that is invention. ## The test most reports get wrong Before applying any of this, establish that the configuration is actually present. The six of seven near miss, where one graha has escaped the containment, occurs in 27.73% of charts. That is 7.5 times commoner than the real thing, and it is what most calculators report as a partial dosha. The classical condition is binary. Seven contained is the configuration.
