# 6 Mukhi Rudraksha: Venus, and the Bead That Repeats It

> Venus is the first graha in the sequence to pick up a second bead, and the doubling is not a tradition. It is what happens when twelve beads meet nine planets.

A 6 mukhi rudraksha belongs to Venus, at position six because Venus is the sixth of the navagraha. Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus. Friday is the day, since the week is built from those same seven grahas in the same order.

Venus also has a second bead. The 13 mukhi is attributed to Kamadeva and is usually read as Venus too, which makes Shukra one of three grahas holding two beads rather than one.

## The doubling is arithmetic, not doctrine

Fourteen beads. Two of them, the 10 and the 11, carry no planet at all: they are named for Vishnu and for the eleven Rudras. That leaves twelve beads carrying a graha.

Against nine grahas, that guarantees three of them collect a second bead, and no rearrangement of the list can dodge it. Work the usual attributions and the three that collect one are the Sun, holding 1 and 12, Venus holding 6 and 13, and Saturn holding 7 and 14.

Some lists put the 13 mukhi with Indra rather than Kamadeva, or the 14 with Mars rather than Saturn. Those changes move which grahas double up. They cannot remove the doubling, because the counting forces it before anybody starts interpreting.

This is worth carrying because it is the honest answer to a question people ask constantly, which is why two shops recommend different beads for the same planet. Sometimes one of them is simply wrong. Often both are drawing on real variant lists, and the overlap was guaranteed either way.

## Venus reaches the top classification, twice

Shukra is one of only three grahas that can be a yogakaraka, owning an angle and a trine at once, and it manages it for two ascendants.

Capricorn rising puts Venus on the 5th and the 10th. Aquarius rising puts it on the 4th and the 9th. Both are Saturn's signs, which is the part that catches people out, since the friendship tables put Venus and Saturn on good terms and this has nothing to do with that.

What actually decides it is how far apart a graha's two signs sit. Once the 1st house is set aside, an angle and a trine are only ever one, two or five houses from each other, so a graha whose signs are that far apart can hold both and a graha whose signs are not cannot. Venus and Mars clear it at five, Saturn at one. Mercury and Jupiter sit at three and are shut out for good.

Exactly 6 of the 12 ascendants have a yogakaraka. The flat prediction is 50.00% and across 12,000 real charts we measured 50.04%, which is the closest agreement between arithmetic and measurement anywhere in this wave.

## The stone is the lightest in the set, and restricted

A [diamond](https://mahadasha.com/diamond-gemstone) is licensed for Virgo, Capricorn and Aquarius rising, and refused for Scorpio, Sagittarius and Pisces. Measured against real rising frequencies that is 23.03% licensed, the lowest of the seven stones, because two of its three ascendants are among the four least common.

Pisces is the case worth noting. Pisces is Venus's sign of exaltation, so a Pisces ascendant can have Venus exalted in the 1st house and still be refused the stone, since Venus owns their 3rd and 8th. Exaltation is strength and lordship is ownership, and the stone rule runs on the second.

The diamond is also prescribed at 0.5 to 1 carat, the only stone in the set under a carat and roughly a tenth of what red coral asks. There is no astrological argument for that. It is market reality absorbed into the prescription, and the fact that a 5 carat white sapphire is an accepted substitute for a half carat diamond shows the weight was never the operative variable.

The bead has none of these complications, and neither does the [Shukra mantra](https://mahadasha.com/shukra-mantra) at 16,000 repetitions.

## Venus is tethered to the Sun, and it shapes the chart

Shukra never strays more than about 48 degrees from the Sun. Mercury's limit is 28 degrees, and nothing else in the sky is constrained this way at all.

So Venus is always within two houses of the Sun in one direction or the other, which limits its possible placements before any chart is cast. And it can never be opposite the Sun, which means the two can never aspect each other in any chart ever drawn. Only Mercury shares that property.

Venus is combust within a 10 degree orb, or 8 degrees when retrograde. Retrogression narrowing the orb rather than widening it runs against the usual assumption, and it is the same for Mercury.

## Which ascendants get Venus as the best graha in the chart

Worth naming them, since the yogakaraka claim above is abstract until it has signs attached.

Capricorn rising: Venus owns Taurus in the 5th and Libra in the 10th. Aquarius rising: Taurus in the 4th and Libra in the 9th. In both, Venus holds the strongest angle or a strong one together with a trine, which no other graha does for those two ascendants.

Those two rising signs are also among the least common. At Delhi, measured across 12,000 real births, Capricorn rises 7.17% of the time and Aquarius 6.28%, against Scorpio at 9.82% and Virgo at 9.59%. Rising times are not equal, and the two ascendants that get Venus at its best are in the bottom four by frequency.

That is part of why the diamond's licensed share comes to 23.03% of people rather than the flat 25.00% the arithmetic predicts. It is the lowest licensed share of the seven stones, and the cause is entirely where the licensed set happens to fall against unequal rising times.

## Kartikeya, and the deity layer

The 6 mukhi is attributed to Kartikeya, the six-faced son of Shiva, whose six heads match the bead's six faces. That is the second place in the fourteen where deity and face count agree, after the 2 mukhi and Ardhanarishvara.

Two agreements out of fourteen is roughly what coincidence would produce, and the pattern does not extend. Bead 3 is Agni with nothing three-fold about it, bead 7 sits at Saturn's position under Mahalakshmi, and beads 10 and 11 carry no planet whatsoever. The deity layer and the planetary ordinal are separate systems that happen to touch occasionally.

## Friday, and choosing a date

Friday is Venus's weekday, so its first hora opens at sunrise and the four windows fall at positions 1, 8, 15 and 22 of the 24, totalling exactly 240 minutes as they do for every graha on its own day.

One thing worth knowing before waiting for a Venus period: 34.6% of people never live through a Venus mahadasha at all. It is 20 years, the longest of the nine, which is precisely why it is the easiest to miss inside a normal life span. That figure comes from our [marriage timing](https://mahadasha.com/when-will-i-get-married) work and it undercuts a good deal of advice built on waiting.

The [rudraksha muhurat](https://mahadasha.com/muhurat-calculator/rudraksha) tool will pick a date without requiring any of that.

## Friday, and the four windows

Friday belongs to Venus, so the first hora of the day opens at sunrise and belongs to Shukra with no calculation needed. Its four own windows fall at hora positions 1, 8, 15 and 22 of the twenty four, two by daylight and two after dark.

On 3 January 2026 at Delhi they open at 07:15, 13:17, 19:52 and 03:50 the following morning. The total is exactly 240 minutes, and it is 240 minutes on every other day of the year at every latitude, because two day horas and two night horas always come to a sixth of a full day however the two halves divide.

What moves is the clock. Delhi daylight runs 10.283 to 13.930 hours across the year, so a day hora stretches from 51.42 to 69.65 minutes and the window that opened at 07:15 in January opens well before six in June.

## Frequently asked questions about the 6 mukhi rudraksha

### Which planet does the 6 mukhi rudraksha belong to?

Venus, because Venus is sixth in the navagraha sequence. Venus also carries the 13 mukhi in the common attribution, making it one of three doubled grahas alongside the Sun and Saturn.

### Why does Venus get two beads?

Because twelve of the fourteen beads carry a graha and there are only nine grahas, so at least three must appear twice. Which three depends on which variant list a source uses, but the doubling itself is forced by counting.

### Should I wear the 6 or the 13 for Venus?

Practice treats the two as distinct rather than as alternatives, and the 13 arrives with a live dispute attached, since some lists hand it to Indra. This one has the ordinal behind it, which is the firmest footing any bead in the set gets.

### Is it good for relationships?

Venus is the significator of relationships and comfort, so the aim is at the right graha. Timing questions about marriage are settled by periods and transits rather than by any object, and the joint condition most rules describe holds for only about 4.95% of a lifetime.

### What is the Kartikeya connection?

Kartikeya is six-faced, matching the bead's six faces, which makes this one of only two places in the fourteen where the deity and the count agree. The other is bead 2 and Ardhanarishvara. Both are coincidences rather than a rule.
